This is the movie that started it all. This low-budget film, was the first movie in the Evil Dead series. Bruce Campbell plays Ash, who along with three other friends takes a trip into the woods, to spend the weekend at this old house. One of the four people finds an old book with a tape. When they play the tape, words are spoken that unleash the evil power of the book of the dead. One by one, Ash's friends are turned into demons, who he must now battle in order to survive. Although I'm a Bruce Campbell fan, I didn't really like this movie. The idea was a good one, but the movie just moved too slowly. I kept finding myself going to do other things, while watching this movie. It really worked against my short attention span. If you are a fan of the Evil Dead series, you might as well watch it any way, just because this is where it began. Other-wise, don't bother. Just watch Evil Dead 2 instead.
