What Women Want

Starring Mel Gibson, and Helen Hunt

Mel Gibson is a real jerk around ladies. He sleeps around and such. Then he
gets the power to read women's minds through something so inane it cannot be
repeated. At first he uses the power to manipulate women, but then he goes
soft.

This movie tries to tug at a lot of emotional heartstrings. Now i'm not going
to freely admit to being an emotional guy, but i must admit, they tugged at me
a little. There's this one suicidal girl, who is so sad. I felt so sorry for
her.

Unfortunately, suicidal girl was the only character that i could get into.
The others seemed flat. Suicidal girl was a flat character too, but a sad
one. Come to think of it, the characterization in this movie was pretty
awful.

The humor...well...it was okay. It was pretty funny at the beginning when he
was manipulating women. Then it got kind of dumb. And well, the humor was
above average for a romantic comedy, but that's certainly not saying much.

The best part of the movie was when the tape melted. In my viewing of the
movie, towards the end the tape kind of slowed down, then froze, then sped up
really fast, and then it just melted. It was one of the most incredible
sights i've ever seen.

Basically, the tape melted. The acting was alright. And the suicidal girl
tugged at my emotions more than i care to admit (I didn't cry, but, you know,
i WAS really sad).

I give this movie 3 stars out of 4, though if the tape hadn't melted i
probably would have given it a 2.

See this movie if you want to see a romantic comedy that's moderately funny,
overly sappy, and emotionally stirring.

(I swear, i'm not a wuss).
