Voodoo

Starring Corey Feldman

Zack

Mat and I rented this movie without putting much thought into it. It's a horror movie about voodoo (oddly enough.) and it stars Corey Feldman. The movie is Corey Feldman getting initiated into a fraternity, only to find out that it's just a cover from some freaky voodoo cult. Now Corey Feldman ha to keep from getting sacrificed, and he has to put on end to the evil voodoo priest, Marsh.

I happened to enjoy this movie. It was well paced, and Corey Feldman did an excellent job. this may not have been the best horror movie, that I've seen, but it wasn't that bad. As a horror movie, it was a little disapointing. There wasn't enough gore. Most of the killing happened off screen. The intro was excellent, where a young man becomes a victim to Marsh and his voodoo doll. I don't the ending was done too well. It wasn't quite anti-climactic, but it could have more suspenseful.

If you are fan of Corey Feldman, I recommend this movie.

*** out of ****

As I promised in the review of Sorority House Massacre 2, Zack and I watched Voodoo starring Corey Feldman. The cover had a skull with Corey in the corner screaming.

The beginning of Voodoo is intriguing. A college student walks on the sidewalk in a crowded city. Meanwhile, in a darkened room illuminated only by candles, a figure sticks needles into a voodoo doll. The student falls on the ground in pain. Eventually, the student dies.

For the rest of the movie, there is very little voodoo involved, except towards the end. Basically Corey Feldman transfers to a college to be with his girlfriend only to have trouble finding a room. Fortunately, he’s able to find a room at a fraternity that needs one more member to remain a fraternity. Unfortunately, the fraternity is run by zombie voodoo cult members. Corey finds out this information from a mysterious old man.

Voodoo fell below my expectations. Instead of the gory horror route I was expecting, it goes for a climax with a suspenseful, but far too long, confrontation between Corey Feldman and the leader of the cult. Corey manages to keep his cool throughout the whole movie, but the other actors do a poor to average job in their roles.

Rent Voodoo if you like Corey Feldman or want to watch a sort of suspenseful movie about voodoo on a college campus.

I give Voodoo **1/2 out of ****.
