Swimming With Sharks

Starring Kevin Spacey

Hollywood is a dangerous place. People are always trying to steal other people’s ideas. Since one day I plan to work in Hollywood, I decided to rent Swimming With Sharks to see how Kevin Spacey portrays a producer from hell.

Swimming With Sharks is about an aspiring screenwriter who gets the position of an assistant to Kevin Spacey, a producer from hell.

This movie was totally different than I expected it to be. A lot of it is pretty funny, especially at the beginning—such as when Kevin Spacey gives a lecture on how Sweet and Low is different from Equal. The movie gets sinister during a lot of it and really questions the idea, “Is it worth it to rise to the top in Hollywood?”

The acting is very good, especially from Kevin Spacey who plays the part of a bastard perfectly. At first, I didn’t like how this movie cut back and forth between the assistant torturing Kevin Spacey and the assistant working for Kevin Spacey, but the cool twist at the end of the movie makes it worth it.

If you liked The Player, you’ll enjoy Swimming With Sharks.

I give Swimming With Sharks ***1/2 out of ****.
