Superman 2
Starring: Christopher Reeves, Gene Hackman

Superman 2 was supposedly planned to be made at the same time as the original Superman movie. This makes sense since the same writers are involved. It has a different director, but mostly the same cast from the original.

After a quick prologue covering the events in Superman, it shows a part from the prologue of Superman. The three Kryptonian bad guys are released from their prison-cube and go to conquer Earth. Massive chaos ensues with cheesy 1980’s special effects.

Superman 2 is probably as good as the original—one of the few sequels that can live up to that fact. It develops the Lois Lane-Clark Kent relationship, has less of the annoying Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and more action. The end of the movie is a massive fight scene between Superman and the 3 Kryptonian villains involving bus tossing, heat rays, and much more comic book zaniness. Lex Luthor is annoying, but is funny at the end when he tries to make deals with the Kryptonian bad guys and Superman at the same time.

Watch Superman 2. It’s worth it.

I give Superman 2 ***1/2 out of ****.
