Street Fighter 2 was an excellent arcade game, even though it must have had at least six versions. Think Im kidding? There was Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2: Tournament Edition, Street Fighter 2: Turbo, Super Street Fighter 2, and Super Street Fighter 2: Turboand thats not counting the various console versions! Street Fighter is based off of Super Street Fighter 2. I even enjoyed the beginning of the movie where Jean Claude Van-Damme gets a mission to lead his troops to fight against Raul Julias evil Shadowloo dictatorship. Some of the initial fight scenes were even decent. Then, as the movie progresses, a problem similar to Mortal Kombat: Annihilation risesevery single character from Super Street Fighter 2 decides to leap in and damage the plot one by one. Street Fighter rips off of Clockwork Orange in a scene where Blankas eyes are prodded open by a machine, forcing him to watch non-stop images of violence. Many scenes in the last 2/3 of the movie are just random characters fighting each other. E. Honda might be pushing Zangief through a wall to reveal Chun Li fighting Dee Jay! Except for Jean Claude Van-Damme, the acting isnt really bad Although its a shame this was Raul Julias last movie! The worst thing about this movie is the last scene. While I wouldnt reveal it, fans of the games will recognize the ending. When I saw this movie in the theatre, some guy in front of me said, What the fuck? I give Street Fighter
** out of ****. There wasn't enough of E. Honda in this movie. He should have dominated. I happen to disagree with Mat's comment, that tryin to fit in a bunch of characters, being a bad idea. I was actually a little annoyed that I didn't get to see Dhalsim. They actually, only tried to put in the characters from street fighter 2, and none of the new ones from Super Street Fighter 2. Blanka could have much cooler. The acting sucks. I'm going to give it a rating, because it's been awhile since I last saw it. |
