Robocop. The first movie actually won an Oscar for best sound effects editing. The third one won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. No, wait a second, that was Cider House Rules. Anyway, Robocop 3 is by far the worst in the Robocop trilogy. It involves Robocop, a girl who is a genius with computer programming, rebels against the corrupt cops, and a robotic ninja. Robocop also has a jet-pack in this movie and flies. It is also rated PG-13, which is a big mistake for a Robocop movie. Part of the appeal of the first two films were their dark, violent tones. This one has the girl telling ED-209 to say, I am a little puppy. Also, for the first part of this movie, Robocop is low on energy. So we get to see him stumble around saying such lines as, Power at 30 percent 20 percent I always thought Robocop was appealing because of his robotic action, not his repeated failure messages. The fight with Robocop and the robotic ninjas was cool. Rip Torn, who was in Men in Black as the guy with the beard who briefed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, plays the head of the greedy company that owns New Detroit. This movie ends on an awful scene. After blowing away many bad guys and causing Rip Torn to lose his Japanese investors over robotic ninja damages, he approaches Robocop.
RIP TORN: Say, youre a pretty handy guy What do they call you? Murphy? ROBOCOP: My friends call me Murphy. You can call me Robocop.
What the hell? Robocop 3 is only recommended watching if you want a little kid to see a Robocop movie or if youre a fan of mediocre science fiction movies. I give Robocop 3 ** out of ****. |
