In the US, this movie was known as
Jackie Chan's First Strike. It was released here theatrically
shortly after Supercop. Out of all the movies in the Police Story
series so far (I haven't seen Police Story 2 yet), this is my
favorite. This time, Jackie Chan is involved in a more James
Bond style plot. First Strike works OK as a James Bond parody,
but it uses much more classic Jackie Chan elements such as wacky
fight scenes. My favorite scene involved Jackie Chan changing
quickly in a car while singing as bad guys are trying to kill
him. The pace moves pretty decently, and the movie is one of
the better Jackie Chan movies I have seen. It falls a bit short
of the greatness of Rumble in the Bronx, Operation Condor, and
Rush Hour, but it's still worth a rental. This is one of the Jackie Chan movies that I've seen in the theater. Now, I've been a fan of Jackie Chan since Rumble in the Bronx came to America, so I try to watch Jackie Chan movies whenever I get the chance. I don't really remember the plot of First Strike, but I do remember that the movie rocked. My only complaint about the movie was the pacing. It went by way too fast for me. At first, I didn't think the movie had been as long as his previous ones, but then I checked my watch. Oh well. At least the fight scenes were fantastic. I give it *** out of **** |
