Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment

Starring Steve Guttenburg, Bubba Smith, Bobcat Goldthwait, and the guy who makes cool sounds

Those wacky Police Academy cadets return for their very first assignment. In this one, there are sent to take down an evil crime sindicate that has been plagueing the streets. Steve Guttenburg leads the pack as they attempt to find the secret location of the criminal head quarters. Along the way, the mean Lt. Mauser is attempting to sabotage the police officers' efforts.

I've been watching the Police Academy series for quite some time now, though I haven't some any of them since I watched Police Academy:Mission in Moscow, about two years ago. I still have no idea why seven of these movies were made. Seriously, it's the sort of thing that keeps me awake at night with a boggled mind. Though I guess I can say the same about Steve Guttenburg's entire career.

This second installment of the Police Academy series most of the main characters had already been established in the first movie. Though there is some more characteration, there is more focus on the story, or should I say, lack there of. Eventually, the plot twists and turns into a final showdown between Steve Guttenburg, (Officer Mahoney) and Bobcat Goldthwait, who plays the evil crime boss.

I guess if there is any reason to watch this movie, it's the supporting cast. there's Officer Tackleberry who likes to shoot stuff, Officer Hightower (Bubba Smith) who's endowed with super human strength, and Officer Jones who makes funny sounds with his mouth. This movie also features the standard scene where Mauser's lacky ends up naked, in the Blue Oyster which happens to be a homo-sexual biker bar.

I give it about ** out of ****
