What do you get when you mix 3 crappy actors, a weak storyline, weaker dialogue, bad directing, and an annoying soundtrack? The Mod Squad. This movie was supposed to be a hip action flick, with steady drama. It succeeded in being a movie. That's about it. Honestly, the acting wasn't that bad. It was phenominal either. The worst part of the movie was the story and the directing. Though, I the obnoxious use of re-mixed 70's music really wasn't necessary. I didn't need a bunch of hints to know that it was a bad re-make. I also have trouble calling it an action movie. The writer decided that if he couldn't come up with an original plot, he would make light of the fact by pointing it out. Having a movie admit that it sucks, does not make it suck less. I didn't have a problem with Claire Danes, though I would have prefered to see her naked. Oh well. Giovani Ribisi sad attempts at comic relief made me want punch him in the face, repeatedly, until my knuckles begin to bleed, and Omar Epps, spend too much of the movie just standing there, trying to look cool. The pace wasn't too bad. *1/2 out of **** |
