When this movie first came out, I didn't bother to watch it, because I had heard that it was long, and terrible. (not that has stopped me from watching a movie before) Since it's been on video, I had from other people that it was actually good. So I decided what the hell, and I rented it. First of all, this a long ass movie. Two tapes long. It seems that the guy who made this movie, must have a had a few ideas for some movies, but none of them were good to stand on there own. So he just combined them all. We've got an old bed-ridden man, who asks his nurse to find his son, a divorced cop who wants a woman, a dorky guy who used to be a hit on the show "Quiz Kids", but now is a has-been, there a young boy who currently a "Quiz Kid", and his overbearing father, the host of "Quiz-kid" who's going to die from an illness. Some druggie who wants some normalcy in her life, and some others. Most of the movie isn't too bad. The pace isn't bad at all, especially for such a long movie. Tom Cruise, the cop, William H. Macy, and the nurse, were among the good actors. Though William H. Macy's story was kind of lame. Over-all it was an alright movie. I would have givin it somewhere between 2and a 1/2 to 3, if wasn't for the ending. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen, but for those of you that have, I think you know what I'm talking about. the ending rules. It makes little sense, and is hilarious. ***1/2 out of **** |
