Legend of the Drunken Master

Starring Jackie Chan

Legend of Drunken Master was released in Hong Kong as Drunken Master 2. I guess they didn't want to bring the original Drunken Master over here yet since Drunken Master 2 was made in the early 1990s. Surprisingly, Drunken Master is one of the only Jackie Chan movies where Chan's character has not been dubbed to be named Jackie. The reason for this is that Chan's character is based off an actual character in Chinese History. Jet Li also did some movies about this guy in the movie Once Upon A Time In China. The Legend of Drunken Master is one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies. The dubbing is very funny and actually works most of the time. The story involves Jackie Chan trying to stop a corrupt Chinese business man from selling authentic Chinese artifacts to Americans. Some parts in this movie are quite serious and don't quite match the tone with the rest of the movie. Jackie Chan does a good job at acting and I would have liked to see more drunken boxing. You only see drunken boxing in 2 fight scenes, but they are fucking hilarious! This movie is coming out for rental soon, but I plan on buying it. Great stuff.
I give The Legend of Drunken Master ***1/2 out of ****.
