The plot of Idenpendence Day can be summarized in three short sentences: Aliens blow up our cities. We wonder how to stop them. We stop them.

This movie really has all the actors doing an OK job. The acting is solid and this film cleverly mixes some comedy in with the cool looking battle scenes and the blowing-up-things scenes. The special effects are very good.

So what is wrong with this movie? I feel that the movie concentrated on its characters too much. It took WAY too long for the aliens to first attack. This problem could have been fixed with less characters or less concentration on the characters.

Still the drama in INDEPENDENCE DAY is watchable. It manages to move along at a slick pace. But the movie should not have been the two hours and 1/2 that it was...
