When Zack and I were Juniors in high school, we started a Movie Club. Every Wednesday, where school would let out at noon, we would show a movie. At least, it started out that way for the first year. The second year was much more sporadic, due to our busy schedules and poor planning. Howard the Duck was one of the movies we watched. It was also the movie that held the record for our highest attendance of people at a meeting. I have no idea why. Howard the Duck is based off of a comic book and produced by George Lucas. Howard gets transported from his duck world to a city in the 1980s. He makes friends with a girl, gets chased by a bad guy, and performs a really bad song at the end. Howard the Duck is too long and too boring. I do think that the Howard the Duck costume is very well done. I give Howard the Duck
*1/2 out of ****. For some strange reason, I decided that I would collect all 34 issues of the Howard the Duck Comic about a year ago. I'm really not sure why. They weren't that great. They could have been pretty good, but they weren't. That's kind of how I see this movie. Given the chance, I will watch it. It isn't very good, and I know that, but I am still compelled to watch it. Maybe it's the scene where Howard the duck screws the human chick. It's pretty funny. The bad guy in this movie is played by the principal from Ferris Bueler's Day off. Tim Robbins also has a supporting role. I guess the only other thing I have to say is, that this is yet another victim of the Marvel Comics Bad Movie Curse. Oh well. ** out of **** |
