Zack and I walked into the Blockbuster Video that I work at and rent this movie we have been considering for a few weeks. Corey Feldman and Corey Haim in a movie, together! But could we take both Coreys after our 24 hour Corey exposure? After a hot chicks Mom dies when her car mysteriously explodes, the hot chick has a birthday party. And who else is there but Corey Feldman and Corey Haim? Corey Haim has lots of sex with the hot chick, while Corey Feldman pops up in various scenes until he flexes his acting chops for the finale. Although Corey Haim is the lead in Blown Away, Corey Feldman does the better acting performance. I mean, who else can deliver the line, Hold on, Im popping a chubby here, with a smirk without breaking into laughter? Unfortunately, we saw the rated version, so we must have missed some of Corey Haims acting performance, including a scene where he supposedly eats out the hot chick like Homer Simpson at an All You Can Eat shrimp bar. The shocker in Blown Away is the depressing ending. After tons of sex and miniscule action, the ending slaps you in the face. If it were not for our inner Feldman, Zack and I would have burst into tears right there. The ending, while odd, occurs after way too many epilogue scenes featuring an idiot detective in scenes like this:
DETECTIVE: So, was he fixing his motorcycle? COREY HAIM: I dont know. DETECTIVE: So he wasnt, huh? That means he must have been murdered! COREY HAIM: I mean, I dont know how long he was fixing his motorcycle! DETECTIVE: Whoops, my mistake. Hope you feel better!
Blown Away is a dark movie. I give Blown Away **1/2
out of ****. First of all, I would like to point out that Mat has already forgetten the name of the female lead in the movie, Nicole Eggert. I would also like to add that Mat is the only one who would have burst into tears due to the ending. My inner Feldman could kick the crap out of his inner Feldman. Mat also doesn't seem to realize that the epilogue usually happens after the climax, which is at the very end. The scene that Mat refers to, is yet another example of how Corey Haim can talk his way out of anything, with the greatest of ease. Now that that's out of the way, here is my review: Both Corey's give an excellent performance in this action-based thriller. Corey Haim's acting ability really shines, when he's doing Nicole Eggert. Plot twists and turns into a rip-roaring finally, that left me awe struck. I was alright, but a little slow. ** out of **** |
