Alien was a suspense, Aliens was an action movie, Alien 3 was a drama, and Alien Resurrection was a low-budget action movie with a direct-to-video feel. While an improvement over 3, it still lacks a significant contribution to the series. Alien Resurrection involves Sigourney Weaver coming back to life through some DNA experiments. The military wants her to involve aliens again-gee, that's only been done before in Aliens! While the plot is lame, is has some neat twists and some decent acting. I like the alien/human hybrid Weaver plays. The ending points the series to a promising fifth movie. That's about all the positive things I can say about Alien Resurrection. The special effects range from cool to stupid, and the entire production feels lifeless, with the exception of a basketball game scene. It's pretty sad when the high point of an Alien movie is when Sigourney Weaver tosses the basketball like a bat out of hell. I give Alien Resurrection ** out of ****. |
