Nicholas Cage plays a private detective who is hired to find out if a film (that was found in an old man's private safe, after he died,) is real. The plot thickens, as Nicholas Cage delves deep into the seedy underworld of the illegal porn industry. The plot twists and turns into a riveting, anti-climactic ending That makes you question what is actually going on in the black market porn industry. At least that is probably what was supposed to happen. Most movie-goers seem to have forgotten that Joel Schumacher directed this film. This is the same man who single-handedly killed the Batman movie franchise. (maybe he had a little help from George Clooney.) So the movie had a bad director, perhaps the acting can keep it good. That is, if the main lead was anyone other than Nicholas Cage. He may have been good, in The Rock, but he sucked in Con Air. If Snake Eyes taught us anything, it was that Gary Sinise sometimes makes bad career choices, and that Nicholas Cage is also no good in "Suspenseful" thrillers. Oh yeah, he sucked in 8mm. I give the film ** out of **** |
