MAT
A hostage situation, some prep-school
pranks, Sean Astin; totally unrelated? Then you haven't seen
Toy Soldiers. After some wacky phone-sex antics, Sean Astin has
to round up some mouth wash, with liquor in it, to the head of
the school. As punishment, he must go to the prep-school until
he graduates. As revenge they [sean astin and his cronies] move
the dean's office outside. Shortly afterwards, some terrorists
take over the school. Sean gets revenge by getting information
and spitting on their sandwiches. The military fails to intervene
with the situation, but Sean Astin has what it takes. Several
gunfights later, Sean Astin gets the other students to safety
as a SWAT team kills more terrorists. At the end, this movie
delivers very little action, an OK plot, and a mediocre performance
by Sean Astin. Why the hell is this called Toy Soldier?

GREG
Let's be honest: we all liked
Rudy. With Sean Astin's impeccible charm, no one could help rooting
for Rudy. So now we venture to see if this charm and wit can
spill over into an action movie.
Movie start: Promising. Sean
Astin plays a renegade no-goodnick. There's a big afro-american
guard, should be good. Conflict established. I was a bit let
down by the "big epic prank", but rocket launchers
are a plus. Apparently, Sean Astin and his group of friends are
going to try to stop terrorists holding their school hostage.
Sean Astin's character is the man! He is my idol. [editor's note.
this was before we started watching any movie's that had either
Corey Haim or Corey Feldman.] Now the action is heating up. It's
a non-stop rollercoaster ride of action. This movie is not to
be missed by any Sean Astin fan, (and we all know that you are
one.)
Final Conclusion: the deaths
pile on, the action heats up, astin panders to the crowd. Overall,
a fine action movie and a good start to any 24-hour movie marathon.

[editor's note- due to the fact
that I had already seen a number of the movies that we watched,
many of my "reviews" consisted of observations, rather
than criticism.]
The campus cop is worthless.
Sean Astin is cool because he had a lineman's handset. I liked
when the payphones where destroyed. Though he is no Corey Felman,
Sean Astin is very cool. It's only been an hour and 15 minutes,
and I alread think Mat is an idiot. This movie rocks. I don't
like the speciall effects of the movie. The guns don't sound
loud enough, and the squibs are not large enough. The part where
the guy is shot in the head, and blood pours, is cool.
