CROCODILE DUNDEE: Sue Charleton (Linda Kozlowski) is a reporter for a New York newspaper who visits Australia to cover a story on Mick "Crocodile" Dundee (Paul Hogan, read our interview with him on page __), a crocodile hunter who killed a crocodile with his own hands; eventually, she convinces him to join her on a trip back to New York. Can an Australian keep his cool in New York? The first half of this movie takes place in Australia and the second half takes place in New York. There isn't really a plot-it just kind of ambles around with jokes that aren't funny. It's worth a rental for two scenes alone: the "this is a knife" scene and the showdown with the pimp near end. *** out of ****.

CROCODILE DUNDEE II: Crocodile Dundee is now living with Sue Charleton in New York. It turns out her ex-husband is investigating a deadly drug trade going on in Colombia and Sue becomes kidnapped by the Colombian. Can Crocodile Dundee save his wife in time? Crocodile Dundee II is by far the weakest entry in the "Dundee Trilogy" because it's like a rehash of the first film with locations switched: the first half is in New York and the second half is in Australia. While the original film had some humor, this sequel isn't very funny and moves at a slow pace-especially with the action sequence taking up all of the last hour of this two hour film! *1/2 out of ****.

CROCODILE DUNDEE IN L.A.: Sue Charleton gets assigned to take over a position in the newspaper's L.A. office where the former head "mysteriously disappeared." Crocodile Dundee and his son, Mikey, decide to join along for the ride. Is L.A. really all glamour and glitz or do some sleazy movie execs await our heroes? Crocodile Dundee in L.A. surprised me. It is definitely the funniest of the series, although some the humor is much funnier if you've ever been to L.A. or are familiar with Hollywood at all. Unlike the first two films, the action moves from Australia to another location pretty quickly, helping the slick pacing of this third installment. Unfortunately, the end of this movie reminded me of the end of Crocodile Dundee II because it's a big chase/action scene. True, some humor is laced with the action effectively-I just personally enjoyed the Hollywood satire part a lot more. Still, Crocodile Dundee in L.A. is worth seeing in theaters and, for me, is as good as the original. *** out of ****.
