I have been on the Internet for a very long time: since 1994. That is 7 years, which might not be a lot to some people, but it certainly is to me: especially since I'm 19.

One of the earliest things I used the Internet for was newsgroups. I would read newsgroups all day, from adventure game newsgroups to video game newsgroups to movie review newsgroups. I posted a few movie reviews here and there and generally got no response from any of them. My first review (actually, it's a retrospective) was of Joe Vs. The Volcano. I got lots of flames for posting a negative review. Unfortunately, I don't have all of those lovely flames I received because it's on a really old 486/66Mhz which had its hard-drive formatted quite a few times.

After searching the Internet for an hour or so, I can't find my first review of Joe Vs. The Volcano. If you want to, you can read my review of it on our review section.

Here is the most recent flame I've received regarding that review, though:

Mat,

The first time I saw the movie I had the same reaction.
Then about a month later it was still somewhere in the back of my mind and
the more I thought about it the more the movie grew on me. Then went to see
it again and loved it.
It is a fable...about many things. Like a Grimm tale.
Watch it again and I think you might like it.
But don't go out and rent it and decide that you are GOING to watch it.
Wait until you're at the video store and you can't decide what to get, then
get it. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Listen to the dialogue as
much as you watch the movie. It is exceptionally well written.
A couple favorite scenes:
"That's not what I'm arguing about! If I told you that I would be wrong"
When Hanks gets his luggage.
"I have no response to that"
"Do you want to hear a poem I wrote?"
The fishing scene with the hammerhead shark.

Yes, some of the movie is a little long, but the rest makes up for it...

Actually, this is a very nice e-mail about it. I wish I still had those insulting e-mails that called me a moron, to say the least. Ah, well. :(

[Editor's Note - Since we didn't have a copy of any of the good flames, I got one off of the Official Frenzal Rhomb message board. Enjoy.]
